Update

 

The Lodge Trust Country Park is now in its second year of trading and is proving to be a popular eating, meeting and tourist setting.

 

The Caravan Club CL , which was awarded the “Best Newcomer CL 2008” is attracting new members all the time and we also now have many members who return regularly to visit us, even in the snowy conditions of last winter!  The grounds of the park are becoming more established and the view across the ten acres of meadow have been greatly appreciated by all our visitors.

 

Our two Log Cabins, “Swallow” and “Badger”, are proving to be a hit with our guests.  We have recently been awarded Three Stars by Visit England in their Self Catering category.  The location is ideal for families or older people, with plenty to see and do, not just in Rutland but also in the surrounding counties of Lincolnshire, Leicestershire and Nottinghamshire.

The main attraction in Rutland is of course Rutland Water, where you can walk, cycle, sail or take a trip on the Rutland Belle (you will be amazed at the size of the reservoir!).

 

If you come to visit us, please pop in to the “Country Café” on site.  This is open from Tuesdays to Saturdays from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. offering cooked breakfast, homemade soup, paninis, sandwiches, jacket potatoes, a hot lunchtime”special” and delicious homemade cakes.

 

The shop in the café sells products made here by our residents and service users.  We now also sell homemade jams, using fruit grown in our own gardens where possible.

 

The 1/3rd of a mile wheelchair/pushchair friendly walkway around the parkland can be used to either create an appetite or walk off a good lunch and at the same time sample the Rutland fresh air.

 

We just thank God for this wonderful extension of our Work and Education Service, to provide additional work and training opportunities for our people and others from the local learning disability community.  It also allows the public to enjoy the lovely area and a quality service.
